This tour has been designed for our guests who wish to discover the traditional lifestyle of the Netherlands, its iconic windmills, and the unique atmosphere of its coastal villages.

While visiting the villages of Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken with a professional guide, we experience the history, culture and everyday life of the Netherlands up close. The program progresses at a balanced pace with walks, short breaks, photo stops and local discoveries.

Zaanse Schans

In this open-air museum famous for its windmills, we explore the industrial past and traditional lifestyle of the Netherlands. Historic mills, wooden houses and workshops along the Zaan River create the village’s most characteristic scenery.

We visit a cheese workshop and a clog (klompen) making workshop, where traditional production processes are explained. With photo stops and short walks, we experience the atmosphere of the village at a relaxed pace.

Volendam

In Volendam, a historic fishing village, we walk along the harbor and discover the Netherlands’ historical connection with the sea through stories and local insights. Colorful houses, small boats and the promenade along the harbor form the characteristic atmosphere of the village.

With guided narration, we learn more about the village’s past, daily life and local traditions. While capturing the most beautiful views of Volendam during photo stops, we also share local restaurant and culinary recommendations for guests who wish to try them.

Marken

With its well-preserved traditional architecture, Marken is one of the villages where we can best experience the historic lifestyle of the Netherlands. Wooden houses, narrow streets and life closely connected to the water give the village a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

As we walk through the village, we talk about the former island life, local traditions and small details of everyday living. Short photo stops with views of colorful houses and the harbor become some of the most enjoyable moments of the tour.

In Marken, the goal is not to see as many places as possible; it is to slow down a little, look around, and appreciate together the simple beauty of the village.
